Data sources

EPiC Database 2024 โ€” generic materials

Generic material factors come from the Environmental Performance in Construction (EPiC) Database 2024, published by Crawford, Stephan and Prideaux at the University of Melbourne (DOI: 10.26188/10257728.v11). EPiC uses a hybrid life cycle inventory (LCI) approach combining process data and input-output data, which captures upstream indirect supply chain emissions that process-only EPDs miss. This makes EPiC values systematically higher than European manufacturer EPDs โ€” not because EPiC is wrong, but because it's measuring more of the supply chain.

EN 15804+A2:2019 โ€” life cycle module structure

FastLCA follows the modular structure of EN 15804+A2:2019. Module D is always reported separately and never added to the A1โ€“C4 total, per clause 6.4.3.4.

DESNZ 2025 โ€” Scope 3 factors

The Scope 3 calculator uses UK Government DESNZ 2025 GHG conversion factors for fuel WTT, transport, waste disposal, and business travel. Open Government Licence v3.0.
